CASEMENT WINDOWS IN MODERN DAY CONSTRUCTION

A casement window is a kind of window that usually opens just like the typical door. These types of windows are the most commonly used windows in today’s buildings. Casement windows are usually joined to the main window enclosure known as the frame by different types of hinges also known as pivots of different size at either sides of the wall vertically thus enabling free movement to and from either side. These types of windows can either be fixed to the frame in pairs in which case they open in different directions or fixed solely in which case they only open from one particular direction.

Casement windows with double glazing are made of two very readily available materials namely wood and metal. In most cases the space between the frames is covered by glass panes. Handles are placed at the center of the window for locking while long cranks are used for holding the window into position while it is open. The first major advantage of casement windows is that they offer a better resistance to breakages. Once the window is locked by the lever, which is usually made of aluminum the window cannot be easily broken. Secondly casement windows once open, have a way of directing breezes into the house and therefore keep the house well ventilated. The other advantage of casement windows is that they can be opened fully as compared to the other kinds of windows.

It is also important to consider the demerits of casement windows. First and foremost, it is good to note that these windows wear out quite fast. This is because they are exposed to natural phenomenon like rain, excess heat and wind. The other problem associated with casement windows is that if they are too close to each other they block each other from opening properly.
